Thomas Mutton, MD, spent his childhood looking up to doctors, but not just for their medical knowledge. "Physicians in our community were respected for their caring and professionalism," Dr. Mutton explained. "That is a big part of what inspired me to pursue medicine."
For more than four decades, Dr. Mutton has devoted himself to medicine and more specifically to surgery. "In my residency, we were expected to be able to do any general surgical or vascular procedure," he shared. "After that experience and my years following in private practice, I can honestly say I enjoy all surgical procedures, especially vascular access procedures."
Regardless of why Dr. Mutton is seeing a patient, be it for a consultation, surgery or follow-up after a procedure, his focus remains the same. "My goal is to provide the best care possible for each patient, every time," he said.
When he is not at the office or in surgery, Dr. Mutton and his wife, Paula, enjoy visiting with their three sons and one grandson. "I love it when family members join me for outdoor activities including hikes and ski trips," Dr. Mutton said.
His patients will have to look up to see another of Dr. Mutton's passions. "My hobby is astronomy," he shared. "I enjoy observing the night sky with my telescope."
